Multimedia editor
2016-2017
As my second year on staff I was the multimedia editor, working closely with the social media director and videographer on the InPrint staff. While in this position, I learned how to post the content I helped create to the website, how to give my peers constructive criticism while maintaining AP style rules.
Assistant online editor in chief
2017
Due to the lack in experienced staff members there were no assistant editors going into my second year on staff. Towards the beginning of the year I pushed to learn style rules and content editing to eventually be promoted to assistant editor for the second semester.
Online editor in chief
2017-2018
Not having a full year to learn everything I needed for the website, I spent my summer at MIPA summer camp learning the ins and outs of SNO Sites. Other than than the website itself, I have learned time management to produce my own stories and edit each cycle weekly. I have also taught the other editors what I struggled to learn the following summer.
Improved editing process
Before the beginning of my fourth year on staff the other editors and I updated our editing process. Using tips from former staff member Caitlin Heenan from The Michigan Daily we used their scheduling process to our advantage. By utilizing Google Suites we created a scheduling calendar for online stories, categorized by each section with different colors. Each editor also had their own section of four 4 to 5 writers which they were personally responsible for editing, but each editor would help edit each section closer to the due date. For example instead of only one editor editing a story an editor would edit a piece, tell the assistant editor and then the editor in chief would make the last round of edits to the post. This helped keep the website updated with correct AP style rules, grammar and content that each editor played a part in being posted.
